From the AI Illusion to Real Transformation: Restoring Leadership Amid Chaos

On the occasion of the PMI 2026 Conference, held on June 8 and 9 in Poitiers, Laurent Bourny, CEO and co-founder of Tabsters, spoke in the auditorium on a topic at the heart of today’s transformations: “From the AI Illusion to Real Transformation: Restoring Leadership Amid Chaos.”

As artificial intelligence becomes a key part of organizations’ roadmaps, initiatives are multiplying at a rapid pace. Local experiments, proof-of-concepts, agents, co-pilots, automation, unregulated use… AI opens up considerable opportunities, but it also gives rise to new risks: a lack of governance, challenges in scaling up, data security issues, difficulty in demonstrating ROI, and uneven adoption by teams.

In this talk, Laurent Bourny invites us to take a step back and reflect on this acceleration. The challenge is no longer simply to “build AI,” but to understand why, how, within what framework, and for what business value.

Using concrete examples and insights from the field, he discusses the limitations of a purely opportunistic or solely centralized approach. To turn AI into a true driver of performance, organizations must strike the right balance: providing clear strategic direction, ensuring safe usage, and prioritizing high-value use cases, while allowing innovation to emerge from operational teams.

AI transformation is not just a technological issue; it also involves culture, skills, change management, and the evolution of job roles. One of the key messages of this presentation is that employees will not simply be replaced by AI; rather, organizations will need to learn to work with teams capable of understanding AI, mastering it, and integrating it intelligently into their practices.

This conference thus highlights a key topic for transformation leadership teams, CIOs, PMOs, and project teams: how to manage AI as a true transformation program, with dynamic governance, value metrics, an industrialization approach, and a strong focus on human adoption.

At Tabsters, this belief fully aligns with our vision of management: structuring information, aligning stakeholders, making decisions more transparent, and enabling organizations to maintain control—even in complex and constantly changing environments.
