Tabsters Breakfast: AI and the Future of the PMO

On February 19, Tabsters brought together clients, partners, and project management professionals at the Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg for a new small-group breakfast meeting dedicated to a topic that is currently raising many questions: the impact of artificial intelligence on the role of PMOs.
In a context where AI is rapidly transforming tools, working methods, and organizational expectations, the aim of this meeting was to open up a direct and concrete exchange on a fundamental question: is the PMO destined to disappear, or to reinvent itself?
AI, automation, and the transformation of the PMO role
The introductory presentation was led by Laurent Bourny, CEO of Tabsters, who shared his perspective on current developments and laid the groundwork for the discussion. Through an insightful comparison with the transformation of other professions heavily impacted by digitalization, he highlighted a key point: AI does not eliminate the role of the PMO, but it does profoundly challenge some of its traditional missions.
Information gathering, consolidation, reporting formatting, governance support production... these are just some of the activities that generative AI technologies are now capable of accelerating, standardizing, and, in some cases, automating on a large scale.
Beyond productivity issues, the discussions mainly served to spark reflection on the changing role of PMOs in an environment where AI is becoming increasingly prevalent.
They also pointed out that, while AI is transforming tools and practices, the success of these transformations remains deeply linked to human, organizational, and governance issues.
This breakfast meeting was also an opportunity to demonstrate how Tabsters is evolving thanks to AI: not to replace PMOs, but to enable them to focus more on analysis, anticipation, and value creation.
